AVAX Consolidation Hints at a 15% Crash as LINK Tests $10.6 Support

Three Things to Know
- Chainlink led a sharp large-cap selloff as futures traders unwound long bets.
- LINK and AVAX both trade under their key moving averages, with momentum still tilted toward sellers.
- LINK is sitting almost on top of a weekly swing point near $10.87, and a close below it could open the door lower.
Chainlink fell harder than most large-cap tokens in the latest selloff. Derivatives data showed longs closing positions rather than new shorts piling in.
The flush matters because LINK and Avalanche now sit on fragile floors after weeks of lower lows. Chainlink's tokenization push in Asia has not lifted demand for the token. Traders now face one question. Will buyers defend these floors this week, or will sellers confirm a deeper slide?
Sellers Drain Chainlink Leverage Despite the Asia Tokenization Push
Large-cap tokens took a beating over the past 24 hours, and Chainlink ranked among the weakest of the group. LINK slid about 7.3% during the selloff, and derivatives data showed traders heading for the exits.
Open interest, the total value of outstanding futures bets, dropped roughly 11.6% over the same stretch. Funding rates cooled toward zero but stayed positive. That mix points to longs closing positions. Fresh short sellers do not appear to be crowding in.
Liquidation heatmap data marks a pocket of liquidity near $10.30. That sits just above the recent weekly low of $10.27, a level that could draw price lower. Above the market, the map shows magnetic zones at $12 and just under $13.
The weakness comes as Chainlink expands access to tokenized Asian stock markets. So far, the push has not brought new buyers into the token.
LINK Clings to the $10.6 Floor Below Both Averages

Chainlink traded near $10.85 at last check, down about 5% on the week and roughly 19% over the past month. The token sits below its 50-day moving average, a gauge of the medium-term trend, near $11.86. It also sits just under the 200-day average around $11.01. That longer line now acts as the first ceiling buyers must clear.
The Relative Strength Index (RSI), a 0 to 100 gauge of momentum, reads 41. Buyers look tired, though the reading sits well above oversold territory. Trend-following signals still point down, so bears stay in control for now.
Longer timeframes look no better. LINK swept a major swing level back in September and has slid since. Price now hovers almost on top of the $10.87 swing point, which is close to breaking.
On the 4-hour chart, a trendline from the past month keeps capping every bounce. Below it, the mid-September low near $10.61 has been tested again and again. Recent weeks have printed lower lows, a pattern that wears down a floor over time.
A close below that swing point on the weekly chart would expose support near $9.75. Under that, the daily chart shows the next shelf around $8.07. That area sits close to the $7.88 target analysts flagged if the breakdown runs its course.
Bulls need a cleaner signal first. A move back above resistance near $11.53 would be the first sign that sellers are losing grip. Above that, the next hurdle sits around $12.71.
Where a 15% Avalanche Drop Would Land

Avalanche shows the same seller-led setup. AVAX traded near $8.33 at last check, down about 3% on the week. The monthly picture looks worse, with a loss of roughly 25%.
The token sits below both of its key averages. The 50-day and 200-day lines have nearly merged around $9.10. Together they form a single ceiling that has kept rallies in check.
RSI reads 38, a touch weaker than Chainlink's reading. Sellers have a slightly firmer grip here, though the gauge has not reached oversold levels. Momentum and trend signals point down for AVAX, just as with LINK.
Price has been moving sideways just above $8. That kind of pause often looks steady until it breaks. A drop below that zone would put support near $7.05 in play, about 15% under the current price. A deeper slide would bring the next shelf around $6.15 into view.
Buyers have a clear line to reclaim. A move above resistance near $9.20 would lift AVAX over the merged averages and break the pattern. Clearing $9.76 after that would show sellers losing control.
Two Paths for the Next Three Days
- Bullish: LINK sweeps its weekly low near $10.27, then reclaims $11.53 on a daily close. AVAX would need to clear $9.20 at the same time to confirm buyers are back in both tokens. A daily close under $10.27 for LINK would cancel this view.
- Bearish: LINK posts a weekly close below $10.87, and AVAX loses its sideways floor near $8. That pair of breaks opens a path toward the next support levels for both tokens. A LINK recovery above $11.53 would invalidate this case.
Sellers Keep the Upper Hand for Now
Both charts still lean lower. LINK and AVAX trade under their key averages, and neither has reclaimed the first resistance overhead. Until that happens, sellers set the tone.
Traders should stay cautious in both directions. The recent flush left leverage thin, and thin positioning can turn small orders into sharp moves. A squeeze could hit shorts or longs with little warning.
