XMR and SOL Split as Bitcoin Tests $75K After the AI Stock Selloff

Three Things to Know
- Bitcoin tested $75,000 after AI stocks sold off, yet Monero held firm while Solana kept sliding.
- Monero stays above its key moving averages, while Solana trades below both and sits close to oversold.
- A daily close above Monero's nearest ceiling could decide whether the privacy rally has another leg.
A sharp drop in AI-related stocks pulled Bitcoin lower this week, and most large altcoins went with it. Privacy coins proved the exception, with Monero holding its ground as Solana extended a monthlong decline.
That split now defines two very different trades. Monero buyers want to know if relative strength can carry it through overhead resistance. Solana holders face a harder question. Can a stretched, seller-led chart find a floor before Bitcoin does?
AI Stock Rout Drags Bitcoin Toward $75K as Privacy Coins Stand Firm
A selloff in AI-related stocks spilled into crypto this week. Bitcoin slid with it and tested that level, which traders now watch as the market's floor. Buyers stepped in there, but the bounce has been thin so far.
Most large altcoins followed Bitcoin lower. A small group held its ground. Privacy coins Zcash and Monero stayed firm, and so did the meme token Pepe and the trading project Lighter.
The privacy trade had momentum before this drop. Zcash jumped about 10% on Nov 6 after its NU7 network upgrade went live. It traded near $1,366 that day. That move pulled fresh attention to Monero as well, and the pair has kept that interest through the slide.
In effect, the selloff now works as a filter. Risk-off money is leaving coins that were already weak and staying in those with relative strength. That split shows clearly in Monero and Solana, which sit on opposite sides of it.
Monero Keeps Its Uptrend While the Market Bleeds

Monero traded near $614 on Thursday, flat over the past day. The coin is up about 4% for the week and about 11% for the month. That is a rare gain in a market where most large tokens are shedding value.
The trend behind that gain looks healthy. XMR sits well above its 50-day moving average near $571, the average closing price of the past 50 days. It also holds far above its 200-day average near $467. Both lines sit below the price, so they act as floors. Buyers have controlled the trend for weeks, and trend gauges confirm its strength.
Momentum tells a calmer story. RSI, a 0 to 100 gauge of momentum, reads 56. That is firm but far from the overheated zone above 70. Monero has strength left without looking stretched.
The MACD, a tool that compares short and long trends, has slipped under its signal line. That means momentum is cooling after the recent run. Buyers still lead, but they are pushing with less force than a few weeks ago.
Monero's nearest daily ceiling sits near $648. A daily close above it would open a path toward about $684. Monero has stalled below that first level before, so traders will want to see volume behind any break.
Support sits much lower, near $169, with the next floor around $145. That wide gap matters. A pullback would have plenty of room to run before it hits a level that held in the past. In practice, the 50-day average is the line buyers would likely defend first.
The bigger picture leaves room above. Monero's all-time high stands near $798, set on Jan 14, 2026. The coin still trades well below that peak, even after this month's climb.
Solana Slips Under Both Averages and Nears Oversold

Solana sits on the other side of that filter. SOL traded near $89.95, flat on the day but down about 7% for the week. It has lost about 23% in a month, one of the steeper drops among large tokens.
The trend points the wrong way. SOL trades below its 50-day average near $101 and its 200-day average near $97.82. Both lines now sit overhead, so they act as ceilings. Sellers lead the move, and trend gauges show it is a real downtrend.
RSI reads 31, just above the oversold mark of 30. That shows heavy selling pressure. It also means the coin is stretched, and stretched coins often bounce when sellers tire.
The MACD has not turned yet. It stays under its signal line, so momentum is still pointing down. Any relief rally would start without that confirmation.
On the daily chart, the first ceiling sits near $97.59, close to the 200-day line. Clearing both would be the first sign that buyers are back. Above that, sellers wait around $104.
Below the price, support sits near $77.84. A break there would expose the next floor around $72.34, and that would extend the slide.
Where Each Coin Breaks Next
Both coins sit near levels that would decide their next leg, and Bitcoin's floor sets the tone for each.
- Bullish: Monero closes above its first ceiling and heads higher, while Solana reclaims the level just under its 200-day line. Buyers would then hold the edge in both. The view fails if XMR loses its 50-day average or SOL sinks back below this week's price.
- Bearish: Bitcoin fails at its recent test level and Solana breaks its nearest floor, opening the lower support. Monero would slip under its 50-day average. A Solana reclaim of that first ceiling would cancel this case.
Strength Favors Monero for Now
Monero holds the relative strength here. Its buyer-led trend and steady averages make it the coin to watch if the market steadies. Solana is the bounce candidate, but it still has to prove buyers are back by retaking its overhead averages.
The main risk sits outside crypto. Another leg down in AI stocks could push Bitcoin through its recent floor and drag both coins lower.
